ACRE, ISRAEL — Shores of Mediterranean Sea
Front (above) and back (below) of postcard announcing the performance.
Dance Therapist Jenny Moore and Artistic Director Marylee Hardenbergh returned to Israel in May 2009 to mount the Dance of the Waves performance. The performance had been cancelled by the Mayor the previous fall, due to riots in the city. This site-specific performance on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the ancient city of Acre involved local composers, fishermen, boats and dancers. All worked together to build a performance of great beauty that brought attention to the land and forever changed how the audience viewed that space. The performance took place on May 26, 2009 at 7 PM. Global Site Performance worked in conjunction with the Child Cultural Center Alaswar, and both Hebrew-speaking and Arab-speaking Israelis in order to create this site-specific performance.
